Device Preparation

Xserve RAID Setup

Lithium uses the Apple proprietary RAID monitoring protocols (not SNMP) to obtain Xserve RAID hardware monitoring and configuration data. In order for Lithium to be able to do this, you must provide Lithium with the 'monitoring' password for the Xserve RAID unit. The default 'monitoring' password is 'public', but this can be changed through Apple's RAID Admin application.

You must provide Lithium with the Xserve RAID's 'monitoring' password. The default 'monitoring' password is 'public', however this can be changed through Apple's RAID Admin application.

Troubleshooting

No monitoring data is shown.

Check that the IP address and password that you have provided to Lithium is correct. If Lithium not showing any monitoring data for the Xserve RAID it would indicate that the server is not reachable via the Xserve RAID monitoring protocols. Please ensure you have reviewed the Device Preparation section of this document. You can test your IP address and password configuration by adding the RAID to Apple's RAID Admin application using the same credentials.
