Supported Devices:
- Airport 802.11g Dome-Style Base Stations
Other models may be compatible but have not been tested.
Ports and Protocols
Lithium uses the following TCP/UDP ports and protocols when using this Device Module to monitor supported devices:
Device Preparation
Airport SNMP Configuration
Lithium uses SNMP to obtain monitoring data from the Airport base stations. You must ensure that the base station's SNMP feature is enabled and that an administrator password for the unit has been set.
To ensure SNMP is enabled, use the Airport Admin Utility application included with Mac OS X. Connect to the airport base station and view it's current configuration as shown in the screenshot below:
Click on the "Base Station Options..." button and ensure that the "Enable SNMP Access" switch box is active as shown below:
The administrator/management password of the base station will be the device's SNMP community string. When adding the device to Lithium, ensure you provide the unit's password as the SNMP community string. Do not use the 'public' SNMP community string as not all monitoring data will be shown.

Add/Edit Device Fields
| Field | Recommended Value | Required/Optional |
| Device Name | A short unique string to identify the device (e.g the hostname) | REQUIRED |
| Device Description | A longer string to describe the device (e.g access point location) | REQUIRED |
| Management IP | IP address of the Airport base station | REQUIRED |
| SNMP Community String | The administrator password for the airport base station. Do not use the 'public' community string as this will only show limited monitoring data. | REQUIRED |
| Username | | N/A |
| Password | | N/A |
| Vendor Module | 'airport' | REQUIRED |
| Profile | | N/A |
| Refresh Interval | Interval, in second between monitoring data polls (default: 300sec/5min) | OPTIONAL |

Troubleshooting
Basic system information (hostname, uptime, etc) is shown but no wireless clients are shown.
Check that you have supplied Lithium with the unit's administrator/management password as the SNMP Community String. The Airport base station will typically respond to SNMP queries using the 'public' SNMP Community String but with only a very limited data set. To access the full set of monitoring telemetry, including the wireless client list, the administrator/management password for the unit must be used as the SNMP Community string. The administrator password is the same password you would use to connect to the base station using Apple's Airport Admin Utility application in Mac OS X.
