Multi-Graph Window

Multi-Graphs are a useful tool to pro-actively monitor devices. You can set up metric sets to automatically rotate through a series of predefined graphs. The window displays as many graphs as you wish at a time, and the display interval is user defined.

To open the Multigraph window click File -> New -> Multi-Graph Window (Ctrl + Shift + Alt + G), or you can open a pre-existing graph set by clicking on File -> Open (Ctrl + O) and locating the .lmg file.

The Multi-Graph Window is broken into three components:

The Toolbar

Metric Sets

Each metric set contains three Items. A Graph Set Description, Metric list, and Device list. The  graph set description is the name that will appear in the Metric Set Tab, and in each graph header. The Metric list is a list of the individual entities you wish to have graphed. There is no limit on the number of Metrics that can be graphed, although there are only 8 distinct colours, with the remaining being graphed in white. Finally, the Device list, contains all of the devices for which you want a graph of Metrics defined above displayed.

To add a Metric set to the Multi-Graph form, click File -> New Metric Set (Ctrl + N). There is no limit to the amount of Metric sets you have open. Metric sets are displayed on the right hand side of the Multigraph window, and can be set to auto-hide, once they have been configured.

To remove a metric set from the graphs, right mouse click on the header (or tab) of the metric set you wish to close and select Close Metric Set.

To add a graph window to the graph set, click Add -> Add Graph Window (Or click the + button on the toolbar). You can add as many graphs as you wish, and can position them anywhere on the screen that you wish. The graphs will automatically scroll through the each device in the Metric Sets.  Each graph is displayed for a set interval (configured in the graph config) before the next graph is retrieved. If you wish to pause the graphs, and stop them from auto scrolling, click the pause button. To start the auto scrolling again click the play button. For example:

You have three Metric sets defined: SetA, SetB and SetC. SetA contains two devices, Dev1 and Dev2, SetB contains Dev3, Dev4 and Set3 contains Dev1, Dev2, Dev3 and Dev4. The graphs will be displayed in the following order: SetA/Dev1, SetA/Dev2, SetB/Dev3, SetB/Dev4, SetC/Dev1, SetC/Dev2, SetC/Dev3, SetC/Dev4.

Creating a new Metric Set

To create a new metric set, select File -> New Metric Set from the menu. This opens up a new metric set window. After giving this set a new name, you can drag Metrics from the Browser into the Metric list component of the window. Once all of the required metrics are added, you can then add all of the required devices, by dragging and dropping them into the lower half of the window. For a Metric set to be graphed, this window must be opened. This Window can be set to Auto-Hide by clicking the pin icon.

There is no limit to the number of metric sets you can create, the graphs will automatically rotate through each device in each metric set.

If there is a graph of interest you can use the Pause button to stop the auto-progress of the graphs to investigate, or alternatively, as with the single graph window, you can save the graph by right clicking and selecting "Save Graph As".

To modify a metric set, simply open the window clicking on the Metric set tab (Left hand side of the screen)

To configure the time interval the graphs are displayed for, or to set the reference date, or the graphed period, select Tools -> Configuration Options.

There are three options in the config window:

Display Interval
The time between graph refreshes. In seconds
Graph Period The time frame for each graph: Last 48 hours, Day, Week, Month, Year
Reference Date
The reference date for each graph.

Although the graphs automatically rotate through the sets, you may use the Play/Pause and next buttons in the toolbar to progress through the graphs at your own pace.

Adding More Graph Windows

You can have as many graph windows open as you wish. To add more windows, select Add -> New Graph WIndow from the menu (or click "+" on the toolbar). The graphs will automatically scroll through all available windows. Graph windows are closed in the same manner as a standard Window.

Graph windows are dockable, meaning that you may drag and move each window anywhere on your screen.

Saving Graph Sets

If you have made changes to the graph config (including adding graph windows), or any of the metric sets, when you close the Multi-Graph window you will be asked if you would like to save the document. Clicking 'Save', will open the Save document Window. Give the document a useful name, and save it in an appropriate location..

Opening a Previously saved GraphSet

To open a saved Graph Set, click on 'Open..' from the File menu <Ctrl + O>. Once you locate the required Graph Set, click open. Alternatively, you can open the file from Explorer.
